Siding Replacement and Repair in Utah
The west wall took the brunt of the hail, and now there are cracked panels, a dented corner, and a strip of siding flapping in the wind. We repair and replace vinyl and fiber-cement siding and tie it into the roof flashing, so the whole exterior sheds water the way it should.
What we install and repair
Siding replacement and repair in Utah covers vinyl and fiber-cement siding, storm-damaged panels, and exterior trim, matched to the home and tied into the roof flashing where the wall meets the roof. Siding work is scheduled during business hours; if a storm has torn the exterior open, emergency tarping and storm response are available 24/7.

What Utah weather does to an exterior
Siding in Utah takes a beating from three directions. At four and five thousand feet the sun is strong enough to chalk and fade vinyl on the south and west walls within a few seasons. Winter brings freeze-thaw cycles that open small cracks a little wider every year. And the summer storms bring hail and gusty outflow wind, often from the west, so one side of the house can look fine while the other is pocked and split.
Cracked, loose, or missing siding lets water reach the sheathing behind it. That is where rot and mold start, usually out of sight until a soft spot shows up under a window.
Four kinds of siding work
Vinyl Siding
Replacement and repair of vinyl siding, with panels matched to the existing profile and color where possible.
Fiber-Cement Siding
Installation and repair for homeowners who want a heavier, more impact- and fire-resistant exterior.
Storm-Damaged Panels
Hail- and wind-damaged sections photographed and repaired or replaced, often alongside roof and gutter repairs.
Exterior Trim and Flashing
Trim, corners, and the flashing details where siding meets the roof, windows, and doors.
How a siding job runs
-
1. The walk-around
Every wall gets looked at, starting with the sides that faced the storm. Cracks, holes, dents in the trim, and loose courses are photographed, and the roof and gutters are checked at the same visit.
-
2. Matching
For a repair, we find the closest available profile and color for what is on the house. For a full replacement, you choose the material and color before anything comes off.
-
3. Opening the wall
Old panels come off and the sheathing and flashing behind them are inspected. Any soft or wet sheathing found here is recorded and addressed before new siding goes on.
-
4. Closing it up
New siding, trim, and the kick-out and step flashing where the wall meets the roof, finished so water runs down and away instead of behind.
Why the roof and the wall are one job
Siding and roofing in Utah meet at the joints that leak the most. Many leaks blamed on the roof actually start where a wall meets it: a missing kick-out flashing that dumps water behind the siding, step flashing buried under old panels, or trim that was never sealed. Frame Restoration Utah is a roofing contractor first, so we treat those transitions as one system. If you are replacing the roof, it is a good time to look at the siding next to it, and the other way around. See roof replacement and storm damage.
Checking your siding after a storm
After a hail or wind storm in Utah, walk the sides of the house that faced the weather and look for cracked or holed vinyl, chipped fiber cement, dented trim, and panels that have come loose. If the storm tore siding or roofing open, emergency tarping and storm response are available 24/7 at 435-292-8802. Damaged siding usually means the roof and gutters took hits too, so Frame Restoration Utah inspects all three and photographs what it finds. You get a written scope you can share with your insurer; coverage decisions stay between you and your insurance company, and we do not adjust claims.
If water already got behind the siding, our water damage and mold remediation teams can handle what is inside the wall.
Siding questions
What siding materials do you install?
Vinyl and fiber-cement siding, along with the exterior trim that goes with them. Where a full replacement is not needed, we match the profile and color of what is already on the house as closely as we can.
Can hail and wind damage siding?
Yes. Hail cracks, chips, and dents siding, and cold vinyl is the most brittle. Strong wind loosens panels or peels them off entirely. The same storm usually hits the roof and gutters too, so we inspect all three together.
Why coordinate siding with the roof?
Because water often gets behind siding where the wall meets the roof: at step flashing, kick-out flashing, and around dormers. Doing the siding and the roof flashing as one detail keeps those joints watertight.
Is siding work available 24/7?
Siding repair and replacement is scheduled during business hours (Mon–Fri 8am–7pm, Sat 8am–6pm, Sun closed). If a storm has torn siding or roofing open, our 24/7 line covers emergency tarping and storm response, plus water and flood emergencies.
Can storm damage to siding be part of an insurance claim?
It depends on your policy and the storm. We document conditions with photos and a written scope you can share with your insurer. Coverage decisions stay between you and your insurance company; we document and restore, we do not adjust claims.
